Tuesday December 13th:
Today was my last day at my WLE. My final thoughts on my WLE are that it was a fun life experience that will help me very much in my work future because it gave me a sense of having work ethic and what it is like to have a profession. It will help me in the future because it will show potential hiring workplaces that I have some experience under my belt when it comes to being a hard worker. My experience this year will help me choose a WLE that is fit for me next year because it will give me something to base my choice off of since I enjoyed my experience so much this year. I will look for an internship that has a similar atmosphere to the Reptile Room because I feel that I fit in well there. Overall I found the whole WLE experience to be a big factor in my future.

Tuesday December 6th:
My day at my WLE was pretty action packed today. I started my day off with giving my WLE presentation which went great and I passed! Once that was over with I got right to work and fed and watered all of the rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters. Then I went around the store and cleaned up any dirty cages that I noticed. This whole process took about two hours. After I was done with that, I sweeped up the shop and helped one of my co-workers transfer a few birds from one cage to another. Once that task was completed, I helped a different co-worker restock and reorganize the shelves. Once we were done with that, the rest of my day was basically just manning the register and assisting any customers that needed help with sales or questions. I feel that I have grown as an intern because I am much more self reliant now. When I first started, I was always asking my mentor what I should do to keep busy but now I find my own jobs to do such as if I see a dirty cage, I automatically know that I need to clean it even though I was not told to do so. What makes my workplace great is that it is an excellent setting that helps fit my outgoing personality that would not fit in so well if I was in an office setting or something of the sort.

Tuesday November 29th:
When I was first looking for a WLE I had to do alot of things. The first thing I had to do was figure out what sort of job I wanted to have my basing it off of what I want to do as a profession after college. After that I looked on several different places online and narrowed it down to just 3 places. Once i did that all I had to do was go in and see if anyone would hire me and sure enough I became a reptile Room employee! I believe that the most effective way to look for a job is to first figure out what type of work you want to be doing. Once you have done that then you can find a few places that meet your type of job. Finally, you just go in and tell the employers what you are all about. Once you know who will hire you, take your pick of which work place fits you best. As a result of my WLE I believe that being a professional adult in the working world means that you fulfill all of your duties at your workplace and are a trustable person who can be depended on by others.

Tuesday November 22nd:
My time at my WLE has really taught me alot about myself. It has taught me that I am a hard worker and that I am very responsible and trustworthy to my co-workers. I really appreciate that we did this working experience through school because it taught me what it is like to have a job and have other people depend on you in order to keep their workplace running. During my WLE experience, my creativity has really been put to the test. It has been put to the test because my project goal is to have a complete, and functioning website for my workplace by the time my time is done at the Reptile Room. My placement here at the Reptile Room is going to affect my workplace and the community by increasing sales, and publicizing where the Reptile Room is and what it is all about to the community. A skill that I practiced at my WLE that will help me in the future is customer service. This skill will help me in the future if I ever decide to have a profession that entails working with customers. If someone were to ask me why my work at my WLE was important I would say that it was because I helped keep the store looking nice and assisted in keeping business flowing. Based on what I have learned here at my WLE, I will be able to pick a better job in the future that fits my work ethic and what I enjoy doing.

Tuesday November 15th:
The leadership skill that I am using the most at my WLE is the skill of collaborating productively. I use this skill all the time at my WLE and it really helps! One way that I use this leadership skill is when I am helping customers. If the customer asks a question that I do not know the answer to, I have to collaborate with my co-workers in order to get them the help that they need. Another way that I collaborate productively is when I bag food for customers while one of my co-workers handles purchases for these customers. I feel that I am using this leadership skill very well and dont think there is much room for improvement with it because I utilize it whenever it is necessary. Colleborating productively helps me do my work because it helps me assist customers to the best of my abilities which is my main focus at work. I think my mentor Aron utilizes the leadership skill of thinking critically the most. I think he uses thinking critically the most because he has to deal with placing orders to keep his animal supply up and also think of ways to sell merchandise more efficiently and effectively.

Tuesday November 8th:
Today at my WLE I did alot of very productive things! My day started off with cleaning out all of the rabbit cages and making sure they all had food and water. Then a delivery truck pulled up and thats when the real production came in. I went out to the truck and helped the driver unload all of the boxes of supplies and put them out in front of the store. Once the truck was entirely unloaded I spent the majority of my day stocking shelves with our supplies. After that was all done I finished off my day with helping customers as well as feeding most of the animals. Today my mentor gave me the most important information I needed to do the rest of my project! My mentor gave me a list of all the animals and items that the Reptile Room sells. This list will be very helpful because it will make up the business portion of the website!

Tuesday November 1st:
For my WLE project I plan on creating a website for my workplace. The Reptile Room doesn't get nearly enough attention as it should because its a really great business! I got this idea from my mentor when he told me that business was getting slow, thats when I found out that he didnt even have a website for the business!!! I am excited to complete my project because I think that publicizing the Reptile Room on the internet will bring in so many more customers and business will be booming. In order to complete this big and important task I need to set some deadlines for myself. These deadlines will ensure that I include a nice page layout and design for the website. The deadlines will also help me make sure I include all the required details for the website and most importantly that i get everything done on time.

Tuesday October 25th:
Although I am just an intern, I carry a very big role at my WLE. As far as a title goes..... im not so sure what to call someone who cleans all the cages, feeds and waters all the animals, and helps customers. Well if you find a name let me know because that person is me! My day starts out with a brief walk around to all cages to make sure that all of the animals are in good shape, have to look good for the customer! Then i begin to clean any cages I see that are really dirty. If any customers come in as I do this, I stop for  brief moment to see if there is anything I can help them with. Once the cages are all clean its time for the animals to chow down. I go around to all the animals and give them food and water, except for the poisonous ones because they are dangerous. Once all that is done, the rest of my day just entails answering phones and assisting customers.

Tuesday October 18th:
My mentors name is Aron Dickey and he is the store manager at the Reptile Room. A typical week for my mentor basically entails answering phones and helping customers who need assistance. Arons interest in this type of business came from his childhood because he always had reptiles as pets when he was a kid.

Tuesday October 11th:
My workplace is called the Reptil Room and it is an animal store for reptiles. The Reptile Room is a small business however it sells product to hundreds of places throughout California. My WLE is located on A Street and basically looks like a big glass house. I would say that about 5 people work there that i know of. My WLE hires all types of people all sharing one common similarity, a love for reptiles. My workplace serves the public and anybody seeking help with reptile related needs. The biggest strength of my workplace is that everyone working there is knowledgeable of reptiles which is a key concept there. The biggest weakness of my workplace is that it is not a very big business.
